These Terms are the agreement between you and Influent Academy for the use of our services, including Visual Vocabulary. Please read them before you create an account.
1. About these Terms
These Terms of Service govern your use of the services provided by Influent Academy, including the Visual Vocabulary English-learning service at vocabcue.com and the Influent Academy website at influent.academy.
If a particular service publishes its own separate terms in future, those terms will govern that service, and these Terms will continue to apply to everything else.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and forms part of your agreement with us.
2. Who provides the service
Influent Academy is a Bangladesh-based education startup. It is not currently incorporated as a company. Visual Vocabulary is a learning service provided by Influent Academy.

3. Accepting these Terms
By creating an account or using our services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the services.
4. Who can use the service
You may use the service if you are able, under the law that applies to you, to enter into this agreement. In Bangladesh, a person reaches the age of majority at 18.
If you are under 18, please use the service with the permission and involvement of a parent or guardian, and ask them to agree to these Terms on your behalf where that is appropriate. The service is educational and contains no adult content, but we do ask that younger learners are supported by an adult.
5. Your account
You need an account to use the learning service. When you have one:
- use your own account, and give accurate information when you set it up;
- keep your password and sign-in details to yourself;
- do not let other people use your account, and do not use someone else’s;
- tell us at hello@influent.academy if you think someone else has got into your account.
You are responsible for activity that happens through your account, except where that activity is not your fault.
6. Signing in with Google
You can choose to sign in with Google instead of a password. If you do, Google performs the sign-in and confirms your identity to us; your Visual Vocabulary account remains a normal account with us. We request only basic sign-in information (the email and profile scopes) and never see your Google password. Using Google is optional, and an ordinary email and password sign-in remains available.
Google is a separate company and its own terms and privacy policy apply to your use of it.
7. WhatsApp number and learner groups
Where we ask for a WhatsApp number as part of registration or account setup, we use it to administer your account, to manage and prevent abuse of free access, to contact you about your account or learning where appropriate, and to invite you to or add you to a learner WhatsApp group.
If you take part in a group, other participants may be able to see your phone number and WhatsApp profile information. Joining a group is not required in order to learn with us — tell us if you would rather not be added, and you can leave a group at any time. WhatsApp is operated by Meta and has its own terms and privacy policy.
8. Emails you will receive
Having an account means we will send you necessary account, security and service messages, such as password resets and important notices about the service. These cannot be switched off while you have an account.
We may also send useful learning and product emails, including learning tips, educational content, product updates, news and relevant offers. You can unsubscribe from those at any time, and doing so does not stop the necessary messages described above.
9. Free access
We offer new learners an introductory period of free access so you can try the service before paying. Our current intention is that free access runs for seven days and allows up to five learning cards a day.
Free access is a trial, not a permanent entitlement. We may change what free access includes, limit it to one per person, and take steps to prevent people creating repeated accounts to extend it. Where a feature described in these Terms has not launched yet, it applies from the time we make it available.
10. Paid plans
We intend to offer the following monthly plans:
- Starter — Tk 49 per month
- Plus — Tk 99 per month
- Max — Tk 149 per month
We also intend to offer a promotional twelve-month Plus option for Tk 799 as a single payment. Bought as twelve separate months at Tk 99, the same period would cost Tk 1,188, so the offer saves Tk 389.
Paid plans are not yet available to purchase. When they launch:
- the plans, prices, what each plan includes and any applicable duration will be shown before you pay;
- the price shown and accepted at checkout is the price that governs that purchase;
- prices, plan contents and promotional offers may change, and a promotion may be withdrawn or limited in time;
- a change of price does not affect a period you have already paid for;
- prices are in Bangladeshi Taka and include any taxes we are required to charge, unless we say otherwise at checkout.
11. Recurring subscriptions and prepaid periods
There are two ways a paid plan may be offered, and they work differently:
- a recurring subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, and payment is taken again, until you cancel it;
- a prepaid period — for example three, six or twelve months — is paid once, gives access for that fixed period, and then simply ends unless you buy again.
What is available for a particular plan will be shown at checkout, along with the duration, price and whether it renews.
12. Cancelling
You can stop a recurring subscription so that it does not renew. Until self-service cancellation is available in the product, email hello@influent.academy and we will action it. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not shorten a period you have already paid for, and you keep access until that period ends.
A prepaid period cannot be “cancelled” in the same way, because there is no renewal — it runs to the end of the period you bought.
13. Refunds
Our approach, which is always subject to rights you have under applicable law:
- we provide free access first so you can evaluate the service before paying;
- once paid access has been substantially used, purchases are generally non-refundable;
- if you are charged twice, or charged incorrectly, tell us and we will correct or refund it;
- if a genuine technical or billing error affects you, we will deal with it fairly;
- we give refunds where the law requires us to.
Nothing here is intended to remove rights you have as a consumer under Bangladeshi law, including under the Consumers’ Right Protection Act, 2009. To raise a refund or billing issue, email hello@influent.academy with the details.
14. What the service is
Visual Vocabulary is an educational service. It provides learning materials — including vocabulary, collocations, idioms, phrasal verbs, fixed phrases, dependent prepositions, learner-friendly definitions, Bengali meanings, examples, meaning illustrations, UK and US pronunciation and audio — designed to help you learn English through a see, understand, recall, review and remember cycle.
We work hard on the quality of these materials, but learning depends on you. We do not promise fluency, a particular IELTS or examination score, examination results, university admission, employment or any other academic or career outcome. Nothing in our materials is professional advice.
15. Using the service properly
Please use the service as it is intended. In particular, do not:
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service, other accounts or our systems;
- attack, overload, disrupt or interfere with the service or its security features;
- abuse free access, for example by creating repeated accounts to obtain it again;
- attempt to get around account, access or plan restrictions;
- systematically scrape the service, or bulk-extract, copy or repackage the vocabulary database;
- systematically reproduce or redistribute our illustrations, audio or learning materials;
- reverse engineer the service, except where the law says you may;
- use the service for anything unlawful, or in a way that harms other learners.
Ordinary personal learning, quoting a small amount for discussion or study, talking about the service and linking to it are all fine.
16. Intellectual property
The materials and software that make up our services — including our original learner-friendly definitions, examples, Bengali learning content, original illustrations, audio content and arrangements, card and interface design, and the underlying software — belong to Influent Academy or to those who have licensed them to us. They are protected by copyright and other rights.
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use them for your own learning while your access lasts. We do not give you any other rights in them.
We do not claim ownership of the English language or of ordinary English words, and we do not claim rights in anyone else’s trademarks. Third-party and open-source components used in our services remain subject to their own rights and licences, including WordPress and the software we build on.
17. Third-party services
Our services work alongside services provided by others, such as Google and WhatsApp. Those services are controlled by their own operators, are subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.
18. Availability and changes to the service
We want the service to be available and reliable, but we cannot promise uninterrupted access. Features may be added, changed or removed as the product develops; maintenance may be needed; and occasional downtime or faults can occur. Where a change would materially reduce what a paid plan provides, we will act reasonably and tell you.
19. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to close your account (see the Privacy Policy for how).
We may suspend or end access to an account where there is serious or repeated breach of these Terms — for example attacks on the service, unauthorised access, systematic copying of our materials, or repeated abuse of free access. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put things right. If we end paid access without good reason, we will refund the part of the period you have paid for and not received.
20. Business transfers
If Influent Academy or the Visual Vocabulary service is sold, acquired, merged, reorganised or transferred to another operator, these Terms and your account may transfer as part of that change, subject to applicable law.
21. Disclaimers and liability
We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, we do not make other promises about the service, and we are not liable for loss that we could not reasonably have expected, for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control, or for indirect loss.
Where we are liable to you in connection with a paid plan, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us for that plan in the period concerned, to the extent the law allows.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, and nothing removes your statutory rights as a consumer.
22. Governing law
These Terms and your use of our services are governed by the laws of Bangladesh, and the courts of Bangladesh have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer, this does not take away rights you have under the law of the place where you live.

23. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the service develops or the law changes. When we do, we will change the date below, and where a change is significant we will tell you through the service or by email before it takes effect. If you continue using the service after a change takes effect, the updated Terms apply.
